Your Ezine Has Too Many Ads!Your Ezine Has Too Many Ads! By: Heston Nolan,Publishing Editor-Ladder2Success Ezine(Note To The Reader: If you are a Publisher try replacing "Ladder2Success" with the title of your ezine and see if it fits!) Ladder2Success was originated as an ezine. It was designed to assist subscribers in the promotion of their businesses and programs. Since "promotion" has a wide variety of meanings then many different subjects may be explored and utilized to assist subscribers to present their programs. The actual promotion of a business is accomplished by advertising. The methods used to derive an advertisement are many. Internet, Radio, television, billboards, newspapers, mass mailing through the post office, circulars, and on and on. The primary method we will be concerned with is the Internet. The primary tool we are using is Ladder2Success Ezine. The Internet may be broken down into many different pathways that can be used to promote. The particular method of a large populace of the Internet is the use of e-mail. The more specific of the methods of emailing is mass e-mail to a targeted list of people that have subscribed to a specific avenue of their chosen interests. This is known as targeted opt-in Newsletters and Ezines. Ladder2Success is simply an e-mail that is sent out weekly to subscribers that have a use for the various bits of information published in the ezine. The various bits of information consist of items related to "promoting your business, businesses, program and programs". I note the items in singular and plural as many of those on the internet deal in multiple enterprises,and/or multiple programs where an equal number deal only with their specific business or program. Is Ladder2Success dealing with everything related to "promotion"? No, it is not! The Publisher deals primarily with "promotion" of your buiness/es and progam/s by utlizing the internet to relay your advertising to others using the electronic mail system available to all on the internet known as E-mail. The Publisher may occasionally touch on other promotion avenues such as,web sites, search-engines, eBooks and so on, however, the Publisher relies on his favorite and in his opinion, the most effective method for on-line advertising, the E-mail. His favorite tools-the Newsletters and Ezines! Why does Ladder2Success place so many ads in each issue? Two very good reasons: 1)Since the Publisher believes the most effective manner to advertise on the Internet is E-mail then it stands to reason he is offering advertising space to those that believe as he does. 2)In order to build a large base of "believers" the Publisher makes advertising space available for all that subscribe and for those looking for a place to place their advertisments, both paid and free, if they subscribe. Which is more important? Allowing the placement of "lots o' ads" or good content in you Ezine? Publishers reply: Allowing "lots o' ads" is a very good way to help build a large subscriber base. Having good content is a very good way to keep them! There are many con's concerning the placement of "lots o' ads" in Ezines to build a large subscriber base- try these: If I had wanted to see, hear, or read ads, I would have bought a newspaper, kept the circular I got through the mail, or turned on my radio or TV, or played the video I just rented, gone to a movie, checked the bulletin board, read the circular I picked up in the driveway, read the highway billboards, noticed the ad posters on the subway or bus or- The type of people you will get as a subscriber if you offer "lots o' ads" for free will be too cheap to pay for ads. If you try to get them to pay for ads or don't give everything to them for free they will not stay with you. The only "pro" that counts.Mine! Actually, since I devised Ladder2Success it is my Ezine to do with pretty much as I wish. But! And this is an important but- if I do exactly as I wish I may not have enough subscribers to make it worth while to publish an ezine. I need to make L2S appeal to as many as I can. I do this by enticing subscribers with free ads and good content. I try to build a good rapport with the readers in hope they will appreciate my efforts. I can do no more! Let me close this article by saying- I do the ezine because of the satisfaction I get from meeting the challange of publishing to a large readership. The readers show me their appreciation of my efforts by staying with me. Many of them do not take advantage of the free ads. A number of the readers give me feed-back to help me improve the ezine. I occasionally get a bit of praise, a bit of encourgement and a bit of criticism. This makes the long hours worth it all! ______________________________ Copy Write-Written by:Heston Nolan Editor/Publisher of Ladder2Success Ezine Tips tools, techniques, articles to help you promote and buld your business.
