"Avoidance - You mean I have to sell something?"

I was on the phone with a prospect the other day (the lead was from a card deck), and I asked her if she was still interested in a home based business opportunity.

She said, "Yes". I then proceeded to ask her what she had for working capital to start her own business saying, "If you were interested in the opportunity that I'm offering you today, do you have at least $50.00 to invest into it?" (That's what it takes to get started in what I'm offering at http://www.leadstoyoursuccess.com/ and it also qualifies the prospect upfront before I send them more information, so no valuable time is wasted).

She then asked me, "Do you mean I have to sell something?"

I replied, "Yes, when you're in business for yourself, you need to exchange a product, and/or service for money to make a profit.

She then said, "Well then, I'm not interested".

I said thank you, goodbye, and got off the phone with her before you could say "Clueless".

I then stamped a big red circle with a line through it on her name that said, "DISQUALIFIED (actually I just deleted the unqualified prospect from my database, and moved on, but you get my drift).

Avoidance

I believe one of the main reasons individuals trying so desperately to make a "buck" online fail is because they play the avoidance game.

In other words they say to themselves, "I don't want to talk to people, I don't want to get to know anybody on a "one to one basis", just leave me alone, and help me make money on an island, vacuum, "boy in the bubble" apathy kind of marketing strategy. After all, the GURUS say I can just "AUTOMATE" everything, and walk away.

Yes, a true "walk away" run by itself business with no strings attached, no reason to deal with prospects, and customers personally.

The machines will do it all, and I can go bask on the beach in Maui. Plus forget all my troubles, and just call my bank's toll free number from my cell phone every hour or so to see how much more money is bulging from my bank account.

Yes, the lazy person's way to riches, is the only way to go. Why work, when you don't have too.

Valid reasons to avoid some possible pain, but not realistic.

Don't get me wrong, automation is necessary up to a point in order to leverage time, and money, however you should never count on it fully to run your business, or businesses online.

The good old fashion telephone still works best when it comes to building long term relationships with customers, thus giving you the maximum return on your investment in acquiring them in the first place.

So yes, you do have to sell something to make money in your own business, this isn't a job. Unless of course your job is direct sales.
