Miri the Butterfly Fairy "Very Smart Grandpa" story

Very Smart Grandpa

A light mist held the enchanted forest like a mother her child. Dawn had barely broke, shyly the first rays of the sun colored the sky.

In the trees, the butterfly fairies where sleeping. The animals of the night where busily returning to their sleeping places. while the day ones shook the sleep from their head...

Soon, the forest will echoe with the chanting and chirping of the multitude of birds that shared the magic forest with the fairies. That's when the fairies will drag themselves from their dreams.

A new day was born! A day like millions of other days before it. Yet, as unique and as different as can be. For some, it will be a great day indeed and for others it will reveal many surprises. Just like people, I guess...

Miri was tossing and turning in her bed. She was awakening but was trying to stay asleep reluctant to give up her dream. It was futile and soon she was sitting on her bed, rubbing her eyes and yawning.

"Good morning world" She said playfully. She said it every morning since she was very young. She still remembered how she started doing it...

She had a phase where she was afraid to go to sleep... well not exactly she was afraid she might not wake up! Her grandpa was the first to notice something was not right.

"What is the matter? ain't you sleepy little one?" He said. He had such a nice, comforting voice. Miri knew she could tell him anything, he was so wise.

It seems to her that Grandpa Mishkar knew everything!!!

"Oh! hummmm! I see your problem little one" His silver blue eyes looked deep into her's.

"Yes, it is true that any day could be your last." He said. "But! there's no sense worrying about it." Miri looked at him unconvinced.

"Do you stop from waking up worrying you might die that day?"

"Of course not! That would be silly!" she laughed.

"well, now! you know as well as everyone, that everything dies, people, animals, plants even butterflies"He told her.

"Yes, I knew that..."She replied.

"Then it is more important to worry about making sure you live every day to the best of your abilities then worry about dying."

Miri had to agree with that!

Her grand father took her small hands in to his and said;

"Greet every new day with one of your beautiful smile, because, you are given the chance to make it a better one than the one before."

He gave her a warm smile "To do that you have to make sure you have a good night sleep. So you are well rested and full of energy."

Miri thought about it and said "Grandpa, you are so smart!"

"That's a grandpa's job to be smart!" he laughed and winked.

"Now it's time you folded your wings and started to dream, tomorow will come fast enough and you will have to be ready for it."

She reached out, hugged him very hard, kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you! You are the best Grandpa in the WHOLE world."

He just smile, tucked her in gently and sang her a lullaby softly until he was sure she was sleeping...
