The Only Real Christmas GiftThe Only Real Christmas Gift Lisa Bartley-Lacey, MA.
"Fear Not," said the angel, "For I bring you tidings of great joy. For unto you is born this day in Bethlehem - a Savior who is Christ the Lord".
Christ is the ultimate Christmas gift! The only real gifts are those given of love and of joy. We spend so much time and energy on external trappings. While it is wonderful to express our love by showering our loved ones with gifts, it is blessed to express our love by showering our loved ones with LOVE. This is what God did for us by giving us the embodiment of LOVE in Jesus Christ. What gift can compare to this? What gift can top LOVE? How we treat one another from day to day and throughout the year is the truest and most precious gift of all. As women we well know that we would much rather our husbands or significant others treat us with kindness, love and respect on a daily basis than to just give us flowers and gifts on one "special" day. What a gift it is on this Christmas Day, to be blessed by God with just another day to be alive. The added blessing is if we are able to share this special "Holy-Day" season with friends and family. Not everyone who celebrated Christmas last year is with us to celebrate this year. Not everyone who is with us this year, will be with us next year. Embrace the precious nature of love, family and friends in your life this Christmas and all through the year. Due to many troubling situations here at home and across the seas, our loved ones must be held even more precious and dear in our hearts than ever. Never before has the transitory nature of life hit home so harshly. There are mothers missing their children this Christmas. There are mothers who feel utterly unconsolable this Christmas. Let us bow our heads together in prayer and pray for comfort for these mothers. Let us thank God for all that we have. Let us thank God for our own children. Let us thank Him for the gift of Christ. We have the POWER to give tidings of great joy to others this year and throughout the rest of our lives. God has given us so much and we know that to whom much is given much is required. The greatest gift is LOVE. The world needs it so desperately. Without it we will all cease to exist. The easiest way to give love to the world is to hold the essence of peace and charity within your own heart. When you do this you change the state of love, peace and charity for the entire world. It sounds much easier than it is. It takes God’s grace and mindfulness to keep our hearts in a state of peace and love. Can we give the gift of LOVE to the world this year? Can we give this gift to our children? The future of all living things relies on our ability to truly give the gift of LOVE. We have the POWER to transform the world! You are just that powerful...not because I say so or even because you believe it but because God has made it so. With all the problems that exist in this world today, God has given us the POWER to transform all evil through Him into good. As more and more of us accept this gift we are beginning to see and feel the shift. Let us continue to spread this gift...this unending flow of LOVE. This year as we trim trees, share special dinners and events with friends and family, let us remember to also share some of our Abundance, prayers and concern for those that have so little at this time. There are people in the cold here in America. There are people dying of hunger and disease across the seas. Let us share our prayers, our concern and our blessings with them. This is the true spirit of the season. This is what God exemplified to us when He gave us His only begotten son. While we can never give any gift that would come even remotely close to God’s gift, we can give in the spirit of Christ. Christ saved humanity. We can save lives...one human at a time. Giving in this way uplifts the receiver and the giver. It changes lives. Opening yourself to the spirit of Christ in your giving will transform lives. The life that will be most effected by this is your own. In all actuality, Christmas is a time when many people feel desperately lonely and depressed. By reaching out to one another we allow God to work in the lives of others. Loving, giving, healing, sharing–these are the gifts that the Christ Child came bearing from Heaven. We can choose to be like the angel who dispels darkness and fear. We can replace the despair with tidings of great joy! This is the true meaning of giving at Christmas time. This is the only real Christmas gift. Fear not, my sistas. I bring you tidings of great joy.
