Vacation from the internet

It is very important to remember that the internet, just like Television, is habit forming. When you get away from it for awhile, then things get more into prospective. When you first get away from it, you miss it, just like any addiction. As more time goes by, you wonder what it is you miss.

The computer and the internet are TOOLS and only that.

Then you start thinking about what exactly you are going to do when you get back on. Now, your starting to think pragmatically, that is what to do in what order in order to accomplish your goals. You start making a plan and think to yourself that THIS time you will stick to it and continue to until your goal is reached.

Time is the prime factor as you must give yourself and the internet time to produce for you.

2. Search engine submissions:

Not only do you want your main site page to be indexed with the search engines, but you want DEPTH also. Depth is having several pages from your site (domain) indexed also. I have informed you in the past that every page of your domain is a separate URL ( universal resource location) and the engines will see them as so. This is why so many affiliate owners are so productive. Most of their members promote the affiliate site page given to them from the owner's domain, thus increasing the depth of the owner's site pages on the internet.

There is an ever increasing number of 'search engines' on the internet. Some are 'general' engines in three divisions, first the' majors', second the 'feeders', and the third 'site engines'.

Most of the majors are closed to 'free submissions' and if they do have them, the time it takes to get indexed can be several months if at all. Some of the majors only get their results from 'feeders', very few will get any results from the 'site' engines.

What you may ask is a 'site' engine ( as I call them) ? These are sites that are a search engine in name only and are actually run like an FFA or Classified site. All you will do when you post to them is allow your e-mail to get on a list. This is where a lot of what you may call spam comes from other than from the couple hundred real span generators on the internet today. ( I am not going to go into that, as I am sure you have seen the news and articles about them and spam in general).

Go to a couple of major engines and do a search for your site, first using your url, then your keywords. You will see in the returns, where the information came from, and you will hopefully also see 'for more results' with more pages listed that show your site in their listings. IF you have DEPTH also, then more pages from your domain will show here also.

Having more pages listed increases your chances of someone going to your site. Set up a 'link' page and get links to it from as many places as you can.

Always when checking your site popularity, use a couple three different 'checkers' like the sample ones I have listed here ( if you have a favorite or two, then use them too). You will find the results will vary.

3. Article submissions

Another way to get your site listed is to get articles published on the internet. There are several places on the internet that are begging for article submissions. Just pick your topic (that you know a great deal about) and write your article. Of course you will have to register and that is what you want to do....in the process you will be given the option of having your domain listed with the published article. I have even found one that publishes on Yahoo......this is the 'back door' approach to getting listed with them.

4. Forums

My thoughts on the productivity of forums are still in the formation stage. I just have not seen the results from them that others are touting. I think the owner's of the forums are doing most of the touting in order to generate the paid advertisements on the forum pages, but that is my impression only at this point.

Conclusion:

What will all of this do for you? It will generate TRAFFIC to your site and as we know traffic in turn will increase your site ranking on the internet. It is sort of a vicious circle that feeds on itself, isn't it? Are there other ways to generate 'traffic'?
