Back to BasicsBack to Basics. By Stuart Reid. It's worth sometimes just stopping where you are and taking stock of things. You can then remove the clutter and complications that just seem to work their way in - and smooth everything out. It's easy to get in over your head in the world of Internet Marketing. Remember that all you are doing is getting people to give you money, usually by buying something. The principles behind it are easy. Get people to see something, and a certain percentage will buy. Don't let anything get in the way of this! A nice, simple site selling a straightforward product with a steady stream of visitors - perhaps with some kind of affiliate program involved to get others selling for you too. That's your goal. That's what works. If you have a 1001 different promotions running, and untargeted traffic flying at you from here, there and everywhere then please take an hour to clear away whatever isn't working. Keep your promotions to a core of no more than 5 or 6 solid programs. Ensure that most of your traffic is getting what they expect when they visit your site. With this in mind here is a suggested step-by-step guide or checklist: 1. Build a web site. A simple site with an introduction, good ad-copy,email address capture and an order page. Do this for each program you run, even if you are using other peoples products. 2. Promote your site. Advertise in e-zines, write articles, submit to search engines (including liberal use of pay-per-click engines) and forge joint ventures. Um... that's it! You could almost build an e-book around that ( "Two Steps to Success" anyone?)!. I realise it's easier to write than do it but it helps to have something to aim for. Don't get lost in the maze of courses, books, plans, gurus, systems, conferences, tapes and whatever else is thrown at you. Keep It Simple!
