Just about every email program has a means to send "blind carbon copies" ("BCC") to people. You can put all your addressees into this section so their names and addresses don't show when you send your email like they do if you put them in the "To:" or "CC:" category. The DISPLAYED addressee (the "To:" party) can either be a single person or yourself (or some address you make up for your address book such as "Friends and family") or something else appropriate to the occasion. Your distribution list (and anyone they forward your message to) will only see the "To:" and "From:" and "CC:" - either you and the person you send it to, or you in both cases, or you and the name of the list you created. No one sees the "BCC:" names or email addresses at all. Therefore you save exposing your addressees to having their addresses "harvested" for future solicitations.
