Countdown To Success 3... 2... 1... ContactAs I sat here this morning, gathering research notes for today's article, I received a most interesting phone call. Sometimes it's the little things in life that really made you stop, and think. This phone call had that effect on me and I'd like to share it with you.I belong to many affiliate programs, and participate in a few mentoring and training courses hosted by the 'big names' in business success. The phone call I received this morning was from one of these 'big names', and it was only about two minutes into the conversation before we were laughing, and swapping potential product ideas. I felt like I was talking to an old friend. More importantly, I completely forgot that this person is making millions every year, by doing the exact thing I'm trying to do! I'm always surprised when someone like this talks to me like I'm a person, and not just a customer. Better yet, I love when these casual conversations wind up to be USEFULL! In this one conversation alone, I was able to solidify an idea I had been working on for a product, and verified some of my initial thoughts on the best marketing tactics to use. I consider this person a peer, not because we earn the same amount of money, (I wish!), but because we're both running our own business, and we both believe that 'keeping it real' is the key to working with people. The mere fact that he called just to check up on my progress proves to me, if nothing else, he practices what he preaches about keeping the lines of communication open. The feeling of knowing that this is not the last time I'll hear from him made me think about how many others like him I've heard from this year. Hmm. One? Ok, two if chatrooms count. I'm usually thrilled if I can catch these guys on the phone when I call them! Oh... and I call! It's funny, because I hear the same surprise in the voices of people that call me! My strongest business relationships are with the people that are not afraid to pick up the phone and call me! All business owners should remember this. Just because we may conduct our businesses online, does not mean we have to remain in cyber space at all times! I learned a lesson today, and it's this lesson that I want to share. Contact your customers, clients and friends. Contact them with no other purpose but to see how they're doing, and if there is anything you can do to help. I'm going to. I think I'll even start my conversation the same way my friend did today, so don't be surprised if you answer your phone and hear... "Hi, this is Ginger, and I'm just calling to see how you're doing... How the "Big Names" make their money. Right. There is no secret. No matter what various courses or books tell you there is no magic formula. I'm shooting myself in the foot here! I hope you all appreciate this. You'll only ever get rich working for yourself. If you are part of an MLM or selling someone elses product then you're *NOT* working for yourself. Sure, you can make a comfortable income. . .
