Where's Your Signature?Signature files or "sigs" are little advertisments that follow your name in an email or on a discussion board post. Used effectively they can draw a lot of attention to your product, service, website or ezine. You should add a signature file to every email that you send out. You should also use your signature files for any posting that you do. Most discussion boards/forums allow signature files as long as your post is relevant. It's totally free advertising. Signature files also add to your professional appearance. What to include in a signature (select only 2 or 3): 1. Your Title 2. Your Business Name 3. Your Slogan 4. Your Ezine Description 5. A Quick Blurb About Your Product or Service 6. Your URL 7. Your Autoresponder Address 8. Your Subscription URL or Address 9. Your Email Address 10. Anything Else That Calls Attention to Your Business Here's an example of one of my signature files: Christine Dunn, Founder Dunn Internet Marketing http://www.dunninternetmarketing.com dunnimarketing@earthlink.net Set up a couple of signature files. Many email programs will allow you to save several signature files. If it does not, use a program like Notepad. Write up a couple of signatures and save them. When you send an email or post on a discussion board, pull up the file then just cut and paste it after your name. Regardless of the business that you are in, you should take advantage of as much free advertising as possible. Signature files are easy to create and manage. They make you appear more professional, without appearing pushy and allow you one more chance to hook your audience into buying your product or visiting your site.
